About Dexter Cattle

Dexter cattle are a small, hardy breed known for their excellent beef quality and efficient feed conversion. These gentle animals are perfect for small farms and produce exceptionally marbled beef while requiring less pasture per cow than larger breeds.

Our History

Since 2018, we’ve been proudly raising Dexter cattle for premium beef and quality breeding stock in the sandhills of Northwestern Oklahoma.

While we purchased our first Dexter heifers in the summer of 2011, it really began as just a hobby. The acerage that came with our home needed to be grazed and a friend sugggested that a few Dexters would be ideal for the task. As it turned out, our children also needed livestock projects for 4-H and Dexter cattle met that need too.

When we moved to Northwestern Oklahoma, we leased some pasture and the cattle came with us. The lease worked for several years, but leasing wasn’t what we really desired. Our herd was still rather small (i.e., The entire herd fit in a 16 ft trailer) when in late 2018 we had the oportunity to aquire some acearage of our own with just a bit more room to grow. Today, our family operation would still be considered small by most, but for us its grown to more than just our hobby and we focus on quality over quantity, ensuring each animal receives individual attention and care in a natural, stress-free environment.
